Elena Perminova, a representative from the executive body of state power of the Kurgan region, said that the Federation Council “studies and analyzes” digital assets.
First Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Budget and Financial Markets, in a conversation with URA.RU, said that cryptocurrencies are promising assets. However, she does not believe that digital currencies can become the official means of payment in the country.
“Cryptocurrencies today are like on a swing – up and down. Probably, there is a future for them, probably something will happen. But I don’t see them as the official currency in the government’s settlements yet, ”she said.
Despite this, the Federation Council is interested in this asset class. While there is no talk of preparing bills, the body is actively studying cryptocurrencies. Perminova stated:
“We are collecting all the information. The time will come, and we will seriously deal with this issue. ”
According to her, officials are most worried about the strong volatility of the cryptocurrency market. However, with the development of this asset class, volatility should decrease and then the time will come to work on the legalization of cryptocurrencies in the country.
Recall that earlier this month, Andrei Lugovoi, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Security and Anti-Corruption, proposed to form a working group to legislatively ensure the legalization of mining in Russia.
