Pupy, the African elephant who lives in Argentina, has received training to live in a transport box for what may be the last trip of his 35 -year -old life to a tropical elephant sanctuary in Brazil.
Elephanta lived at EcoParque de Buenos Aires, former Buenos Aires Zoo, since 1993 and, according to the site’s note, began his long journey to Mato Grosso on Monday (14).
Before saying goodbye, Pupy went through a quarantine and training period at EcoParque to familiarize herself with the transport box and reduce travel stress.
This was prepared for the 2,700 kilometers from Buenos Aires to a new home near the city of Chapada dos Guimarães in Brazil in a vast sanctuary specially designed for elephants like her.
Puppy’s trip will take up to five days, during which she will be accompanied by caregivers to take care of her safety.
The Brazilian Elephant Sanctuary in Mato Grosso is a space designed to offer a dignified life in semi -freedom to the captive rescued elephants. According to the co -founder and director of the Global Sanctuary for Elephants, Scott Blais, Pupy will have a “transformational” experience in the sanctuary.
“When they experience this sanctuary life, everything is different,” he added.
