On a visit to India, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, said this Friday (22) that the government continues to plan to capitalize Eletrobras this year.
In a defeat suffered by the government this week, the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) suspended the judgment of the second stage of the privatization of the state-owned company for 20 days, after a request for inspection presented by Minister Vital do Rêgo.
With the decision, the process should only return to the agenda on May 11, which makes the government’s plans to issue the sale shares until May 13 unfeasible.
“I believe that the TCU’s decision on Eletrobras was an advance in the process, because the rapporteur presented his vote and the other ministers debated. The schedule to capitalize Eletrobras was until the end of April, but this 20-day delay will lead to an adjustment”, said Albuquerque, in a virtual press conference.
The minister also added that, with the change of date, the modeling of the company’s share offering will also have to consider the results of Eletrobras in the first quarter of this year. Until then, the process included only the numbers until the end of 2021.
“With the work of the TCU, we will offer Eletrobras shares in the first half of the year or at the beginning of the second half, in July,” added the minister.
