Two men aged between 50 and 60 died after an elevator fell from the sixth floor of a luxury residential building in the Horto Florestal neighborhood, located in an upscale area of Salvador (BA). The accident occurred on Thursday morning (14).
According to information from the Salvador Fire Department and Civil Defense (Codesal), the fatal victims were working for a company that was moving a resident. They fell from a height of approximately 25 meters.
The workers were transporting furniture, but it will still be investigated whether excess weight may have been the cause of the accident, which will only be determined by expertise from the Technical Police Department (DPT).
Firefighters received the call around 10am. The agents had to saw through the rubble to remove the victims from the wreckage, in an incident that lasted more than 3 hours.
Codesal followed the rescue procedure for the workers. Teams from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and the Military Police (PM) were also at the scene.
