Elite groups from the PF and PRF will go to RN this Friday to help in the search for fugitives

Elite groups from the Federal Police (PF) and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) will go to Rio Grande do Norte this Friday (16) to help in the search for two fugitives from the federal penitentiary of Mossoró (RN).

The police team from the Tactical Operations Command (COT), which is the elite unit, and more experts – in addition to those already on site – from the PF are part of the police team. The PRF moves the Rapid Response Group (GRR), specialized in special operations.

The 25 professionals use a PF jet to speed up their movement and join more than 100 agents who have been searching the region for 50 hours, with 11 helicopters.

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, reported this Thursday (15) the possibility that the fugitives were still close to the federal prison, which is far from the urban region and with a lot of forest around it and long highways.

An initial investigation was carried out by the PF, on Wednesday morning (14), in the cells where the two were and on the fence that was cut, in addition to the possible tool used in the escape. The expectation of the national secretary of Penal Policies, André Garcia, is that the investigation will be completed this Friday.

Who are the fugitives

The prisoners were identified as Rogério da Silva Mendonça (aka Querubim, Chapa or Cabeça de Martelo or Martelo); and Deibson Cabral Nascimento (known as Tatu, Deisinho or Deicinho). A CNN found that the two are linked to Comando Vermelho, one of the largest criminal factions in Brazil.
