There is always a photo to mark every event in the Windsor house. Today’s one is one of the most important in the life of Elizabeth II and the history of the English monarchy. For the first time a monarch reaches 70 years of reign. The official photograph of the Queen marks the beginning of the celebrations for her Platinum Jubilee.
The shot, of Ranald Mackechniewas done in Victoria Vestibule of the Windsor Castle, loved by Elisabetta, last May 25th. In the background you can see the profile of the castle, in particular the Round Tower, and the statue of Charles II. For his majesty the Castle was the main residence in the last two years.
The photographer is the same as in two previous portraits of the Queen including the very famous one for hers 90th birthday, in 2016, together with his heirs: Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George. The Queen wears a blue dress, pearls, only one visible ring and a watch.
In her message for the Jubilee, the Queen thanks her population of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries for the events organized in the long weekend of festivities. «I know that many happy memories are born on these occasions. I continue to find inspiration in the good and goodwill he shows me. I hope the next few days are an opportunity to reflect on everything what has been done in the last 70 years, in the results achieved, looking to the future with confidence and enthusiasm », writes the sovereign.
