Who knows if “spoiling” the dress the night before can be considered breaking tradition. Just before 1.30pm Italian time, Queen Elizabeth appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Trooping the Color with the same outfit she wore in the official portrait released late yesterday evening for Platinum Jubilee.
It is a dark dove-colored Charmelaine wool overcoat and dress, enriched with pearls and diamond trims around the round neckline and along the concealed buttoning of the coat. As usual, the trustworthy one created the precious ensemble Angela Kellythe personal designer of the sovereign but also “stylist”, friend and confidant of the monarch who has been on the throne for over 70 years.

For the Royal Family, therefore, the watchword was “re-wear“. The parade was in fact studded with precedents to be identified among the clothing choices of the royals present. The undisputed queen of this discipline once again confirmed to be Kate who dusted off a white coat dress made to measure last year by the brand Alexander McQueen for the reception of the G7 on the occasion of the launch of The Eden Project.

Prince Louis was in fact dressed as a sailor. That outfit is a real heirloom as the blouse appears to be there same worn by his father William at Trooping the Color in 1985.

Samir HusseinOn the other hand, the one who decided to run the economy with a little shopping was Sophie, dressed Suzannah London. As the brand specified on Instagram, happy to be somehow involved in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the Countess of Wessex has a tailored pink and cream overcoat plaid made for the occasion with FSC-certified Italian fabric with silk lining, thus emphasizing the sustainable ingredient of the garment. The signature of the hat is instead of Juliette Botterillthe same milliner who designed the headdress of Zara Tindall who chose red for the party.
Her crêpe de chine silk shirt dress is from Beulah Londona brand much loved by the Windsor women. Charlotte she had a very simple look dressed in her brand new blue chiffon dress Patachou. Affordable price (it costs about ninety euros) and with a single habit, the dress had only a bow on the shoulder. However, little Cambridge was undoubtedly one of the stars of the day. The little princess has undoubtedly inherited the same sense of style (and of photo opportunity) of grandmother Diana.
