Ellen DeGeneres Addresses Death of Friend Stephen “tWitch” Boss; “Heartbroken”

Former host Ellen DeGeneres released a statement on the death of her former DJ and co-executive producer, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, on Wednesday that she is “heartbroken” by his departure.

“I am heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light,” she wrote on Instagram. “He was my family and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and her beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox and Zaia,” Ellen wrote.

Allison Holker Boss, widow of Boss, confirmed in a statement to CNN her husband died at age 40.

No further information was provided on the cause of his death.

CNN has reached out to law enforcement officials for comment.

Boss began his DJ duties on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2014, eventually becoming a co-executive producer and occasional guest host.

Amidst tribulations during the show’s airing stemming from allegations against DeGeneres by some employees about a toxic work environment, Boss publicly supported her friend DeGeneres.

“We can’t very legally talk about it, but I’ll tell you what, there was love,” Boss told Us Weekly magazine.

“Obviously there are some things to work out, but from my point of view and countless others, there has been love. I’ll leave it at that until there’s a time when we can address it more publicly. There was love and there will continue to be love.”

As the show prepared for its finale earlier this year, Boss looked back fondly, telling Entertainment Tonight that saying goodbye was a challenge.

“Things have a beginning and an end, so I know that, but I think the closer to the end, naturally, like us, you start to miss it and start to take in all the little things. moments when you think, ‘Well, maybe I’m not ready to say goodbye yet,'” he said.

“But at the same time, this is the natural order of things and I’ve also said this before, I’m excited for my friend to start her new chapter of the rest of her journey, you know?”

In a statement announcing his death, Allison Holker Boss remembered her husband as someone who “lit up every room he walked into”.

“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” he added. “I’m sure not a day will go by that we don’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for me and especially our three children.”
