Ellen Pompeo: “Why I wouldn’t watch Grey’s Anatomy with my daughter”

There are those who show the fruit of their work to their children with pride and those who would prefer that their children remain in the dark. Ellen Pompeo falls into the latter category: during a conversation with author Malcolm Gladwell to discuss the book Miracle and Wonder: Conversations with Paul Simon, Pompeo has, in fact, said that Grey’s Anatomy, especially in the first few seasons, it offered content that was too extreme to be seen by a minor: «Even on TV you can find a lot of bad stuff. Grey’s, at the time, he was quite driven. There is a scene – I’m sure – in which a character – fortunately not mine – practices oral sex to a ghost ».

In his podcast Tell Me With Ellen Pompeo, the actress returned to the subject explaining that she would be very embarrassed to see Grey’s Anatomy along with his 12-year-old daughter Stella Ivery. The reason? Always the same: the excessive presence of sexual content that would make her uncomfortable. “I’d rather not have this conversation with my 12-year-old daughter for a little while longer,” said the actress, confirming, however, that Stella Ivery would be dying to watch some episodes of the series with her mother.

Meanwhile the series, officially the longest medical drama ever, continues to thrill millions of viewers from all over the world in what some say will be the last season. After 18 years, Grey’s Anatomy ran out of content and lost fuel, yet the most loyal fans do not stop supporting him, looking at him a bit for inertia and a bit for the familiarity that binds them to Meredith and the whole hospital gang. The time to put a point, however, will come sooner or later, and it would be good not to be caught unprepared.
