Starlink already serves 100,000 users worldwide through 1,700 satellites in orbit. The network currently supports download speeds of 50 to 150 Mbps or faster. But to improve coverage and update rates, SpaceX is requesting FCC approval to commission its second-generation Starlink network of nearly 30,000 satellites.
Earlier, the US regulator FCC authorized SpaceX to place the next 2,814 Starlink satellites in a lower orbit (550 km), rejecting objections from Amazon and OneWeb. However, Amazon has now turned to the FCC with another protest.
