Elon Musk Closes Offices, Engineers Quit: What’s Happening to Twitter?

On social media we talk about social media. On Twitter today we talk about Twitter. Indeed we talk about what Elon Musk will make of Twitter after having definitively bought it a few weeks ago. The signs are many and conflicting, all somehow disturbing.

The employees

Hundreds of employees have decided to quit, after the expulsion of the managers, and not to sign the pact proposed by Musk last Wednesday: a pact with more work and fewer promotions to be accepted in 24 hours with three months’ salary. Washington Post And New York Times report that they have seen the internal communication sent by the billionaire. Musk’s goal is to cut costs to recover the $44 billion spent on social platform. It’s doing it even with the paid blue tick policy.

Many employees commented, obviously on social media, and took off a few pebbles from their shoes. They called the Twitter environment toxic, which is also losing advertisers. It is also losing in safety, with fewer checks on fake and hateful Tweets, given that many more employees have left than assumed and it has not helped to offer the possibility of working remotely. Above all engineers and programmers are leaving, who easily find employment elsewhere.

Upon purchase by Elon Musk i employees there were 7500, there could be 2000 left. Not counting the contract workers, the outsiders of related activities.

The offices

Twitter later let it be known that until Monday 21 November the offices will be temporarily closed. No reason was given for the closure, but they were asked to continue to abide by company policies and not to speak to the press. Corporate badges don’t work these days either. On the building that houses Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco, some activists projected graffiti insulting Elon Musk.

Users

Even many users are ready to leave the social network. They are afraid that their given data is at risk. The phenomenon is viral: #RipTwitter is the trending hashtag and the names of other alternative social networks are added to rest in peace for Twitter. Musk himself tweets and replies to followers and users saying that the social network has never had so many and there are those who joked that even Nero said that Rome had never been as bright as during the city fire.
