Equipped with 42 K transpondersu-range (centimeter lengths), Turksat 5A weighs about 3400 kg and will be placed in geostationary / geosynchronous orbit at an altitude of 35 786 km above the Earth’s surface at a point above the 31st meridian of east longitude.
It is designed for a minimum of 15 years of service, at the end of the life, two solar panels and batteries must provide a power> 9.8 kW.
Turksat 5A is used to provide communication and TV broadcasting services on the territory from the western border of China to the eastern coast of Britain: this includes Turkey, part of Europe and Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East.
