Tesla CEO and founder Elon Musk has said he is “seriously thinking” about building a new open-source social network that supports the DOGE cryptocurrency.
Elon Musk
published a survey that asked its followers if they believe Twitter is “strongly committed” to the principle that “freedom of speech is essential to the functioning of democracy.” He added that the consequences of this poll will be important and the vote should be carefully considered. According to the results, 70% of more than 2 million respondents answered the question in the negative.
While discussing Twitter’s “free speech” approach, a follower suggested that Musk create a new social media platform, “one that will consist of an open source algorithm where free speech will be paramount and propaganda will be reduced to the minimum.” Musk responded that he was “seriously thinking about it,” and perhaps the new platform will include functionality that supports transactions in DOGE.
In January, Elon Musk criticized Twitter, saying that the company was only “wasting” developer resources to implement NFT support, while the platform had more important problems.
