Elon Musk predicted when there will be enough microcircuits for everyone

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said this week that the ongoing semiconductor industry crisis will end next year. Musk believes the chip shortage is a short-term problem, not a long-term one.

Now many factories for the production of microcircuits are being built. I think that by next year, the production capacity for the production of microcircuits will be significantly increased.

Musk did not specify which microcircuit factories are being built. While Intel and TSMC have announced plans to build new factories in the US, they are expected to start in a few years. Glenn O’Donnell, vice president of consulting firm Forrester, believes the chip shortage could persist until 2023. O’Donnell said in April this year: “Due to high demand, supply will continue to be limited. We expect this deficit to continue until 2023. ”

The global shortage of microcircuits has seriously affected many industries, especially the automotive industry. Renowned automakers such as Ford, Volkswagen and Daimler were forced to partially halt production due to lack of chips and lower production targets.

Tesla is no exception. Musk confirmed that in the first quarter, the company faced its most challenging component shortage. Moreover, the situation did not change in the second and third quarters.
