Elon Musk resigns as Disney director after company withdraws X ads

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and owner of the X, wants Bob Iger, executive director of Disney, fired.

This Thursday (07), the billionaire made several posts to criticize Iger and Disney after the company decided to remove the ads from X, formerly Twitter.

“He should be fired immediately,” Musk wrote. “Walt Disney is turning over in his grave over what Bob did to his company.”

CNN reached out to Disney representatives, who did not respond about the case. But Iger is openly credited with turning Disney into an entertainment juggernaut through a series of well-executed acquisitions, including the “Star Wars,” Marvel and Pixar franchises.

Disney, like other major companies, stopped advertising on Twitter last month after Musk endorsed an anti-Semitic theory popular among white supremacists. Musk apologized for the post last week after a number of companies ended their business relationships with X, but simultaneously criticized the companies’ actions.

“F*ck yourselves”, he repeated several times while on stage at DealBook Sumit, from The New York Times.

“We felt that our association with Elon Musk and the X was not necessarily positive,” said Iger, regarding the ad withdrawal.

Last Wednesday (06), Musk criticized and made the same type of comments about Paris Hilton after the socialite decided to withdraw the ads.
