Elon Musk said on Friday that he was still committed to buying Twitter, after declaring hours earlier that he had suspended a $44 billion deal to take the company private.
According to the billionaire, the deal was suspended “to await pending details that support the calculation that spam/fake accounts actually represent less than 5% of users.”
However, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO responded to his own tweet announcing the suspension of the deal and stated that he is “still committed to the acquisition”.

The actions of the social network reached fall 20% in pre-market negotiations.
Twitter reported earlier this month that fake or spam accounts accounted for less than 5% of its “monetizable” daily active users during the first quarter.
Musk’s decision to temporarily suspend the deal is based on awaiting “pending” details on this calculation, according to the billionaire. Elon Musk has stated on several occasions that one of his priorities would be to remove “spam bots” from the platform.
