57.5% of Twitter users they voted for Elon Musk’s resignation from the position of executive director of the social networking platform in question in the poll conducted by the billionaire himself.
57.5% of the votes were “yes”, while 42.5% were against the idea of Musk stepping down as head of Twitter, less than two months after taking over the popular social network. More than 17.5 million people took part in the vote, reports the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, citing Reuters and AFP.
Musk said yesterday that he would comply with its results poll, but did not disclose details of when he will resign. So far there is no reaction to the result of the poll.
Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 18, 2022
The poll follows Twitter’s policy upgrade yesterday, which prohibits the creation of accounts for the sole purpose of promoting other social media companies that contain links or usernames for the competing social media platforms.
Musk has fired senior executives and about 50 percent of Twitter’s employees as he wavered over the financial support for the Twitter Blue service.
He also moved on in deactivating the accounts of several journalists following a controversy over the release of details of his aircraft movements. On Friday, he moved to restore those accounts after criticism from government officials, advocacy groups and news organizations in several countries around the world. Some of Twitter’s critics argued that the said platform violates the freedom of the press.
