Elon is the response of three young people, Elizabeth, Nicoletta and Anargyros Koutroupa (list “Forbes Under 30 Greece 2019” for Cleopatra’s Sponges), to the coronavirus crisis and their attempt to contribute to Psachi against him. The outbreak of the pandemic marked the business awakening of Elizabeth, who resigned from her position to start a surgical bag factory with Nicoletta and Anargyros. With no relevant experience, funds or connections, the group of three risked everything, undertaking a seemingly impossible operation. Within just six months, a factory of high standards for the production of IIR type surgical bags according to the standards EN14683: 2019 + AC: 2019 and ISO13485 was set up from zero, as certified by TUV Austria. To support the operation, the company secured financing of 250,000 euros from private investors and a bank. But the journey of creation does not end here.

Starting with the environmental awareness of the three founders, the company invested in research and development in order to create the first biodegradable surgical bag of high protection. At the same time, it began building smart vending machine vending machines, which will be placed in crowded places, enabling the consumer to buy his biodegradable bag when he needs it, where he needs it.

The two innovations of the company are expected to be launched in the market within 2021, with the completion of the patenting process.

Elizabeth holds a degree in International and European Studies, has worked in digital marketing, and Nicoletta is a Chemical Engineer now doing her PhD.

Methodology: Out of the more than 100 nominations collected by “Forbes” – either through applications of the interested parties themselves or through proposals from institutions and competent bodies – the editorial team made a first selection and came up with 50. The jury, which consisted of Mr. Spyros Theodoropoulos (CEO of Chipita), Nikos Karamouzis (former President of Eurobank and the Hellenic Banking Association, President of Grant Thornton), Michalis Bletsas (Director of Informatics at MIT Media Lab), Theocharos Filipos Capital.gr, president of Attica Publications), evaluated the 50 candidacies with scores from 1 (lowest) to 4 (highest), based on which the final ranking was formed. The order of publication is defined according to the rating of the members (from the highest to the lowest) and then alphabetically. Conditions for participation in the list “Forbes 30 Under 30 Greece 2022” were met by those born from 1/1/1992 onwards.
