The number of building permits decreased by 10.8% in April, compared to the corresponding month of 2021.
In particular and according to the data announced by ELSTAT, the size of the Total Construction Activity (Private – Public), during the month of April 2022, throughout the country based on the issued building permits, amounted to 1,997 building permits, which correspond to 428,372 m2 of surface and 2,135,411 m3 of volume, that is, it presented a 10.8% decrease in the number of building permits, a 16.3% decrease in surface area and a 1.6% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2021 .
The issued permits for Private Construction Activity, throughout the country, during the month of April 2022 amounted to 1,977 building permits, corresponding to 424,643 m2 of surface and 2,119,702 m3 of volume, showing a decrease of 11.0% in the number of building permits, a decrease by 16.1% in surface area and a 2.3% increase in volume, compared to
in the corresponding month of 2021.
The issued Public Building Activity permits during the month of April 2022, throughout the country, amounted to 20 building permits, corresponding to 3,729 m2 of surface and 15,709 m3 of volume. The percentage of participation of the Public Construction Activity in the total building volume, for the month of April 2022, is 0.7%.
During the period of the last twelve months, i.e. from May 2021 to April 2022, the size of the Total Construction Activity (Private-Public) based on the issued building permits, throughout the country, amounted to 24,064 building permits, corresponding to 6,003,458 m2 of surface and 25,990,098 m3 of volume.
Compared to the corresponding period of May 2020 – April 2021, there was a 15.4% increase in the number of building permits, a 28.4% increase in surface area and a 31.5% increase in volume.
During the same period of time, May 2021 – April 2022, the Private Construction Activity, throughout the country, shows an increase of 15.7% in the number of issued building permits, an increase of 30.5% in the area and an increase of 35.0 % in volume, compared to the corresponding period May 2020 – April 2021.
The percentage of participation of the Public Construction Activity in the total building volume, for the above period, is 1.0%.
In the four months of January – April 2022, the Total Construction Activity shows, in the whole of the Country, an increase of 1.3% in the number of building permits, a decrease of 3.2% in the area and an increase of 5.4% in the volume, in relation with the corresponding quarter of the year 2021.
During the same period of January – April 2022, Private Construction Activity, throughout the country, shows a 1.5% increase in the number of building permits, a 1.3% decrease in surface area and a 10.0% increase in volume, in relation to the period January – April 2021.
