The turnover of Greek companies jumped in the third quarter of 2021, drawing impetus from the further opening of the economy and the resumption of tourism.
In particular, for set of businesses and the activities of the economy, the turnover in the third quarter of 2021 amounted to 91,460,665 thousand euros, recording an increase of 26.9% compared to the third quarter of 2020, which had amounted to 72,055,403 thousand euros.
The greater increase in turnover in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the third quarter of 2020, the companies in the sector of Accommodation Services and Catering Services presented 79.9%, while the smallest increase in the turnover presented the companies of the sector Mines and Quarries, by 7.2%.
For all businesses in the economy with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in September 2021 amounted to 25,381,511 thousand euros, an increase of 29.5% compared to September 2020 , which had amounted to 19,599,116 thousand euros. The largest increase in turnover in September 2021 compared to September 2020 was presented by the companies in the sector Accommodation Services and Catering Services by 67.1%, while the smallest increase in turnover was presented by the companies in the sector Water Supply, Wastewater Treatment , Waste Management and Remediation Activities, by 2.0%.

For the 210,217 companies that were put into operation in March 2020, the turnover in the third quarter of 2021 amounted to 10,974,499 thousand euros, recording an increase of 43.9% compared to the third quarter of 2020, which had reached 7,626,638 thousand euros.
The largest increase in turnover in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the third quarter of 2020 was presented by the companies in the Accommodation sector by 127.2% while the smallest increase in the turnover was presented by the companies in the Gambling and betting sector by 2.5% .
For the companies that were put into operation in March 2020 with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in September 2021 amounted to 2,175,389 thousand euros, an increase of 34.8% compared to with September 2020, which had amounted to 1,614,214 thousand euros. The largest increase in turnover in September 2021 compared to September 2020 was presented by the companies in the sector Organizational activities by 129.8%, while the smallest increase in the turnover was presented by the companies in the sector Gambling and betting, by 3.6% .
