ELSTAT: Annual increase of 26% in the import prices in the industry in September

A new “jump” was recorded in September by the prices of imports in the industry in relation to the corresponding month of the previous year, according to the data announced by the Hellenic Statistical Authority.

In particular, the General Import Price Index in Industry, compared to the corresponding index of September 2020, showed an increase of 26.0% compared to a decrease of 11.4% recorded during the comparison of the respective indices of the year 2020 with 2019.

Compared to the index of August 2021, the General Index showed an increase of 3.1% compared to a decrease of 2.9% that occurred during the corresponding comparison of the indicators of the year 2020.

The average General Index of the twelve months October 2020 – September 2021, compared to the average General Index of the twelve months of October 2019 – September 2020, showed an increase of 9.7% compared to a decrease of 6.9% in the corresponding comparison of the previous twelve months.

The increase of the General Import Price Index by 26.0%, in the month of September 2021, compared to the corresponding index of September 2020, is due to:

a. The increase of the Price Index of Imports from Countries outside the Eurozone by 40.2%.

b. In the increase of the Price Index of Imports from Eurozone Countries by 5.5%.

The changes in the indices of the double-digit branches of the NACE Rev. classification contributed to the increase of the General Import Price Index (total market) by 26.0%. 2, as follows:
