Unemployment in Greece fell to 13.8% in the first quarter, from 17.2% in the first quarter of 2021.
The corresponding percentage in the fourth quarter of 2021 was 13.2%.
According to ELSTAT data, the number of employees amounted to 4,044,024 people, showing a decrease of 0.2%, compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 11.6%, compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The number of unemployed amounted to 647,196 people, showing an increase of 4.8% compared to the previous quarter and a decrease of 13.2%, compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The number of people not included in the workforce, or “people outside the workforce”, ie people who are not working or looking for work, amounted to 4,364,575.
In particular, the number of people out of the workforce under the age of 75 amounted to 3,157,587. Their percentage decreased by 0.9% compared to the previous quarter and by 10.0% compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
