The new construction activity recorded a new increase in August both in terms of building permits and volume, as shown by the data announced by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
In particular, the size of the Total Construction Activity (Private – Public), during the month of August 2021, in the whole country based on the issued building permits, amounted to 1,468 building permits, corresponding to 451.1 thousand m2 and 2.23 thousands of m3 volume, that is, showed an increase of 12.7% in the number of building permits, an increase of 53.0% in the area and an increase of 64.2% in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2020.
The issued permits for Private Construction Activity, in the whole country, during the month of August 2021 amounted to 1,466 building permits, corresponding to 451.1 thousand m2 of surface and 2,234.9 thousand m3 volume, showing an increase of 13.1% in the number of building permits, an increase of 53.8% in area and an increase of 64.8% in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2020.
The issued Public Building Activity permits during the month of August 2021, in the whole Country, amounted to 2 building permits, with zero area and zero volume. The percentage of participation of the Public Building Activity in the total building volume, for the month of August 2021, is 0.0%.
During the period of the last twelve months, ie from September 2020 to August 2021, the size of the Total Construction Activity (Private-Public) based on the issued building permits, in the whole Country, amounted to 22,391 building permits, corresponding to 5,562.5 thousand m2 of surface and 23,069.5 thousand m 3 of volume. Compared to the corresponding period September 2019 – August 2020, there was an increase of 19.4% in the number of building permits, an increase of 36.4% in area and an increase of 29.1% in volume.
During the same period, September 2020 – August 2021, Private Construction Activity shows in the whole country, an increase of 19.3% in the number of issued building permits, an increase of 34.9% in the area and an increase of 26.4 % in volume, compared to the corresponding period September 2019 – August 2020. The percentage of participation of the Public Building Activity in the total building volume, for the above period, is 3.1%.
In the eight months of January – August 2021, the Total Construction Activity shows, in the whole Country, an increase of 29.1% in the number of building permits, an increase of 57.4% in the area and an increase of 50.1% in the volume, in relation to with the corresponding eight months of the year 2020 (Table 5). During the same period January – August 2021, the Private Construction Activity shows in the whole Country, an increase of 29.2% in the number of building permits, an increase of 56.4% in the area and an increase of 47.6% in the volume, in relation to the period January – August 2020.
