The turnover of accommodation and catering businesses recorded an explosive increase in January 2022, compared to the corresponding month of 2021, as shown by the data published today by the Hellenic Statistical Authority.
In particular, for companies in the accommodation industry with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in January 2022 amounted to 67,460,725 euros, recording an increase of 246.4% compared to January 2021, where it had reached 19,476,243 euros.
According to ELSTAT data, the largest increase in turnover in January 2022 compared to January 2021 was observed in the Lassithi Regional Unit (1,042.5%) and the smallest increase (70.2%) was recorded in the Rethymnon Regional Unit.
For catering companies with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in January 2022 amounted to 97,665,586 euros, recording an increase of 83.8% compared to January 2021, where it had risen to 53,126,192 euros.
The largest increase in turnover in January 2022 compared to January 2021 was observed in the Peripheral Unit of Thira (797.7%) and the smallest increase (13.4%) in the Peripheral Unit of Halkidiki.
