The trade balance between Greece and Russia remained in deficit in March this year as well, amounting to 527.4 million euros. According to ELSTAT, the value of imports from Russia amounted to 532.8 million euros, an increase of 69.1% compared to March 2021 (315.1 million euros), while the value of exports amounted to to 5.4 million euros, down 66.1% from March last year (16 million euros).
In the first quarter of this year, the value of imports from Russia amounted to 1,694.1 million euros, an increase of 131.4% compared to the period January-March 2021 (732 million euros), while the value of exports amounted to to 34.2 million euros, recording a decrease of 15.8% compared to the first quarter of last year (40.6 million euros), Thus, the trade balance was negative to the detriment of Greece by 1,659.9 million euros.
In terms of trade between Greece and Ukraine, in March the value of imports from this country amounted to 10 million euros, a decrease of 45% compared to March 2021 (18.2 million euros), while the value of Greek exports amounted to 1 million euros, down 91% compared to March last year (10.8 million euros). As a result, the trade balance was in deficit and amounted to EUR 9 million.
In the first quarter, the value of imports from Ukraine amounted to 54.3 million euros, an increase of 33.5% compared to the period January-March 2021 (40.7 million euros), while the value of Greek exports amounted to 24.2 million euros, an increase of 5.2% compared to the first quarter last year (23 million euros). Thus, the trade balance was negative to the detriment of our country and amounted to 30.1 million euros.
