An increase of 248 million euros was recorded in October this year in the turnover of the country’s companies operating in the tourism sector (accommodation), as announced by ELSTAT.
In particular, for companies in the accommodation industry with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in October 2021 amounted to 482,519,478 euros, an increase of 105.9% compared to October 2020, where it had amounted to 234,340,816 euros. For the companies of the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover in 2020 greater than 1%, the largest increase was observed in the Regional Unit of Zakynthos (431.9%) and the smallest increase (58.2%) was recorded in the Regional Unit of Kos.
At the same time, for the companies of the catering services sector with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in October 2021 amounted to 142,567,667 euros, recording an increase of 31.1% compared to October 2020 , where it had amounted to 108,750,364 euros. For the companies of the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover in 2020 greater than 1%, the largest increase was observed in the Regional Unit of Thira (236%) and the smallest increase (8%) was recorded in the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki. While, the largest decrease was recorded in the Regional Unit of Halkidiki (16.3%).
