The turnover of companies that were suspended due to a state order due to the COVID-19 pandemic continued to recover in February, as shown by the data announced today by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
Particularly, for all businesses in the economy with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in February 2022 amounted to 24,403,192 thousand euros, recording an increase of 39.9% compared to February 2021, which had reached 17,442. 148 thousand euros.
The largest increase in turnover in February 2022 compared to February 2021 was presented by the companies in the sector of Arts, Entertainment and Entertainment by 187.6%, while the smallest increase was recorded by the companies in the field of Information and Communication, by 8.8%
For companies that have been put into operation in March 2020 with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in February 2022 amounted to 1,151,376 thousand euros, an increase of 93.5% compared to February 2021, which had risen to 595,170 thousand euros.
The largest increase in turnover in February 2022 compared to February 2021 was presented by companies in the production of film, video and television programs, recordings and music publications by 1,176.1%.
The smallest increase in turnover in February 2022 compared to February 2021 was presented by the companies in the sector Rental and leasing activities, by 36.5% while the largest decrease was recorded by the companies in the sector Social welfare activities without accommodation, by 40.4 % (Table
It is noted that the number of companies suspended in March 2020, based on the new identification framework1 amounted to 223,371 companies, which corresponds to 15.7% of all companies in the Greek Economy.
The largest percentage of companies in suspension was recorded in the sector Education (91.7%) and then in the sector Activities of Accommodation Services and Catering Services (88.3%).
The corresponding lower percentages were recorded in the sector Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (0.2%) and in the Information and Communication sector (1.1%).
