The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announces the seasonally adjusted employment and unemployment estimates for February 2022.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in February 2022 amounted to 12.8% compared to 16.1% in February 2021 and the revised upwards of 12.9% in January 2022.
Employees amounted to 4,118,939 people, an increase of 455,115 people compared to February 2021 (+ 12.4%) and 112,391 people compared to January 2022 (+ 2.8%).
The unemployed amounted to 603,025 people, recording a decrease of 99,441 people compared to February 2021 (-14.2%) and an increase of 7,428 people compared to January 2022 (+ 1.2%).
The number of people under 75 who are not in the workforce, or “people outside the workforce”, ie people who are not working or looking for work, amounted to 3,120,148, a decrease of 387,995 people compared to February 2021 (-11.1%) and by 122,526 people compared to January 2022 (-3.8%).
It is pointed out that, during the month of February, the labor market was affected by the application of special operating rules in companies as well as by the implementation of measures for the protection of public health and the treatment of the COVID-19 pandemic, throughout the country.
These measures affected, in addition to the normal functioning of the market, the way in which the research data were collected.
