ELSTAT: Unemployment at 13.3% in November

The downward trend of the unemployment rate in Greece for November 2021 continued.

In particular, and according to ELSTAT data, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in November 2021 amounted to 13.3% compared to the revised down 16.1% in November 2020 and the revised upwards to 13.4% in October 2021.

• Employees amounted to 4,087,369 people, an increase of 208,940 people compared to November 2020 (+ 5.4%) and 54,950 people compared to October 2021 (+ 1.4%).

• The unemployed amounted to 624,858 people, recording a decrease of 121,560 people compared to November 2020 (-16.3%) and an increase of 3,551 people compared to October 2021 (+ 0.6%).

• The number of people not included in the workforce, or “people outside the workforce”, ie people who are not working or looking for work, amounted to 3,138,257, a decrease of 118,626 people compared to November 2020 (-3 , 6%) and by 61,076 people compared to October 2021 (-1.9%).

It is pointed out that, during the month of November, the labor market was affected by the application of special operating rules in companies as well as by the implementation of measures for the protection of public health and the treatment of the COVID-19 pandemic, throughout the country.

These measures affected, in addition to the normal functioning of the market, the way in which research data were collected.

It is noted that due to the non-formal conditions under which part of the collection of primary data used for this press release was carried out and the possible change in the response rate of the respondents and the degree to which it is due to these non-standard conditions, Greek Statistics The Authority shall carry out methodological checks on the compatibility of alternative data collection practices, the results of which it may publish on an ad hoc basis, if necessary.
