The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced the seasonally adjusted employment and unemployment estimates for October 2021.
During the month of October, the labor market was affected by the application of special operating rules in companies as well as by the implementation of measures for the protection of public health and the treatment of the COVID-19 pandemic, throughout the country.
These measures affected, in addition to the normal functioning of the market, the way in which research data were collected.
In particular, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in October 2021 amounted to 13.3% compared to 16.4% in October 2020 and 13.0% in September 2021.
The employees amounted to 4,027,050 people, recording an increase of 97,774 people compared to October 2020 (+ 2.5%) and a decrease of 47,982 people compared to September 2021 (-1.2%).
The unemployed amounted to 617,511 people, recording a decrease of 154,587 people compared to October 2020 (-20.0%) and an increase of 5,994 people compared to September 2021 (+ 1.0%).
The number of people not included in the workforce, or “people outside the workforce”, ie people who are not working or looking for work, amounted to 3,208,499, an increase of 25,547 people compared to October 2020 (+0, 8%) and by 39,166 people compared to September 2021 (+ 1.2%).
