Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie Presley dies aged 54

Singer Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of rock legend Elvis Presley, died Thursday at age 54 after being rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital, her mother said.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a statement.

“She was the most passionate, strong, loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thanks for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment,” she added.

A representative informed the CNN In a statement, Priscilla and the rest of the Presley family are “shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.”

“They are deeply grateful for everyone’s support, love and prayers and ask for privacy during this very difficult time,” the statement said.

Lisa Marie Presley attended the Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday, which she attended with her mother to support Baz Luhrmann’s film “Elvis” about her late father.

Lisa Marie Presley also said in the essay that she has found comfort in the company of people who have faced similar tragedies, adding that her daughters help her move forward.

“I keep fighting for my girls. I continue, because my son made it very clear in his final moments that taking care of his little sisters and looking out for them was first in his concerns and in his mind. He absolutely adored them and they him.”

Lisa Marie Presley, who was previously married to Michael Lockwood, Nicolas Cage, Michael Jackson and Danny Keough, had three other children – actress Riley Keough, Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood.
