Elvis Presley's Bible goes to auction and could be sold for more than R$1 million

Elvis Presley's personal bible is one of many rare items from the King of Rock and Roll that are for sale at the upcoming Hilton Estate & Elvis Presley Artifacts auction.

The piece is engraved with “Elvis Aaron Presley” in gold. The singer underlined passages in the holy book, which was on his nightstand in his room at Graceland the night he passed away on August 16, 1977.

“It's something he really valued and valued so much that he slept next to it every night he was home,” said Brigitte Kruze, co-founder of Kruze GWS Auctions, which is organizing the online auction.

“I could see this selling for anywhere between US$50,000 (about R$250,000) and US$250,000 (about R$1.2 million).”

A uniform that Elvis Presley wore when he served in the United States Army in West Germany is also for sale.

The list of auctioned items includes sunglasses that the singer-songwriter wore during the filming of “Elvis on Tour”, several rings and a polarized watch that the King himself designed with a reappearing crucifix and a Star of David.

Kruze said he expected the watch to sell for around $20,000.

Dresses worn by singer-songwriters Taylor Swift and Amy Winehouse will also be auctioned.

Live bidding starts on Saturday (25), at 11am Brasília time.
