The Embassy of Brazil in the United Kingdom confirmed this Wednesday afternoon (3) a meeting of Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, with Brazilian governors. The meeting takes place this Thursday (4) in Glasgow, which hosts the COP26.
At least two governors must attend the meeting, one from Pará, Helder Barbalho, and one from Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande. This Wednesday, the CNN reported the governors’ articulation for the meeting.
In the official statement from the embassy, it is stated that there will be eleven governors and ten mayors at the meeting:
“The Prince of Wales, participates this Thursday (4) in the launch of the Investor Forum ‘Race to Zero’ SMI-Brasil, in Glasgow, in the context of COP-26”, that “the group is part of the Markets Initiative Sustainable Development (SMI), chaired by Prince Charles, and aims to accelerate global progress towards a sustainable future.
At the event, he will lead a strategic discussion with eleven Brazilian governors and ten mayors who have committed to the Race to Zero campaign. The main topics are the challenges and opportunities related to climate change in Brazil, including infrastructure projects with the potential to collaborate in the commitment made to the campaign.
On the occasion, the Governors for Climate Forum will also be launched, an initiative of the Centro Brasil no Clima to attract financing for sustainable infrastructure projects for the participating states. The Governor of Espírito Santo, Roberto Casagrande, chairs the group.”
