Embraer and GMV, from Portugal, sign memorandum for technological development

Embraer informed this Thursday (22) that it signed a memorandum of understanding with GMV, from Portugal, for cooperation in the areas of development and integration of systems for defense products and services, mainly within the scope of the A-29 Super aircraft program. Toucan.

According to the Brazilian manufacturer, the memorandum also includes potential partnerships in research, technological development and innovation processes, with the objective of expanding the long-term commercial relationship between the companies during the conception, design, development, production and support phases.

Also on the agenda are new businesses, development and integration of navigation systems, Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) and software.

According to Embraer, the two companies intend to exchange information about their experiences, capabilities, products, systems and services.

“Specifically in the area of ​​research and development with a focus on IMA, the relationship between the companies has more than 15 years, including projects within the European Union”, he highlights.

GMV is a private technology business group founded in 1984 and operating worldwide in the following sectors: Aerospace, Defense and Security, Cybersecurity, Intelligent Transport Systems, Automotive, Healthcare, Telecommunications and IT for government authorities and large corporations.

Embraer emphasizes that it has a long-term strategic commitment to Portugal in the development of its aerospace and defense ecosystem, remaining the country where the company invests most in its industrial capacity outside Brazil.

The company recently made an investment of 74 million euros in OGMA, allowing the company to obtain certification for the maintenance of Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engines, used by the new generation of commercial aircraft.

This agreement will create 300 jobs and could triple OGMA’s annual turnover to 600 million euros, also reflecting Embraer’s interest in expanding the scope of its activities in Portugal.

In line with this strategy, several initiatives were launched this year, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with idD Portugal Defense and ETI for cooperation in technological development in their areas of expertise.

With projects under development, Embraer will work with its partners to define strategic priorities for Defense in Portugal, including advanced training, development of dual-use technologies and digital transformation.
