Embraer and Raízen sign a partnership to produce sustainable aviation fuel

Embraer has signed a letter of intent with Raízen to encourage the development of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production ecosystem, the company said on Sunday.

According to a statement, Embraer will become the first aircraft manufacturer to consume SAF that can be distributed by Raízen.

The partnership is part of Embraer’s strategy to zero the carbon footprint of its operations by 2040, as more than 60% of the company’s emissions come from the use of jet fuel in production and flight tests.

The aircraft maker also plans to have SAF blends representing 100% of its fuel consumption in Brazil by 2030, according to a statement.

“As the largest sugarcane ethanol producers in the world, it is only natural that we are looking at a possible SAF offering,” said Raízen’s vice president of marketing and services, Antonio Cardoso.
