Embraer makes agreement with FAB to order KC-390 freighter

Embraer announced this Wednesday (9) that it has closed an agreement to reduce the order of KC-390 freighters made by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), from 28 to 22 units, but a smaller cut than that announced by the FAB at the end of 2021.

In November, the FAB announced that it would unilaterally reduce the order to 15 units of the KC-390, after not closing an agreement with the Brazilian manufacturer at the time.

In 2014, Embraer and the Air Force Command signed a contract for the production of the freighter worth 7.2 billion reais in values at the time. The first aircraft was delivered to the FAB in 2019.

Embraer has now stated that the order reduction was agreed with clauses that minimize effects on the company. The company did not give details, but said the firm order backlog was reduced by $500 million.

The company also mentioned that the agreement could generate an immediate impact of up to 50 million dollars that will be expressed in last year’s financial statement, scheduled to be released on March 24. However, the company stated that this will not compromise the achievement of the “guidance” for the year.
