The French actress Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu 61, is one of the stars of the series “Emily in Paris”. Although the production is American, it is set in Paris, France, and has scenes in French. Sylvie’s interpreter stated, in an interview with CNN that these moments give different layers to the character.
“It gives another side to the character. She’s very different when she speaks French than when she speaks English. And I really like that because it gives another layer, and I like both. There are some moments that sound good in English and some moments that sound good in French,” he said.
“Darren [Star, criador da série] “There’s been this acumen to really understand what moments should be in French. It’s great. It gives us a kind of ‘breakaway’ moment, you know, it’s really interesting. It’s another layer added,” he added.
In addition to speaking English and French, Philippine also learned Portuguese. She was in Brazil this year to film a movie and, CNN she gave her opinion on what would be the biggest cultural shock for the series’ protagonist, played by Lily Collins if she visited the country.
“She’s so organized, she’d freak out. I’m not saying that [o Brasil] It’s not organized, but it’s organized in a different way. She would freak out, because it’s not to her standard. He’d be like, ‘Take it easy, guys. Why are you drinking so much, dancing so much, singing so much?'” he said.
“But she would probably love it. She’s always amazed by everything. One thing about Emily is that she’s always like, ‘Oh,’ when she finds out about things. She would like to, but she would be like, ‘Wow, you guys need to learn from me.’ That’s what she does in France, too,” he continued.
