Emmanuel Macron convenes a summit on strengthening aid to Ukraine on Monday in Paris

With the participation of heads of state and government, mainly from the EU countries, but also many foreign ministers, it takes place tomorrow Monday at Parisfollowing the initiative of the French president Emmanuel Macron, international meeting on the Ukrainian issue. French diplomatic sources underlined today that due to the clear recent escalation of Russian aggression, both in words and in deeds, the aim of the meeting is to review all means of effective assistance to Ukraine but also sending a message to Moscow that Kiev's allies are not “tired”, as Russian propaganda often implies; but “determined to prevent Russia's predominance in the war conflict which she herself started.”

The same sources said that Russia is gradually becoming a “global destabilizing factor”, that European public opinion should be fully informed of the dangers that lie ahead and that tomorrow's discussion will focus on “what more we can do and how we can do it better”. However, they indicated that the meeting is not going to result in concrete announcements and that its main goal is to confirm the common strategy of all those who have sided with Ukraine.

President Macron had the opportunity to discuss the objectives of tomorrow's meeting with US President Joe Biden, with whom he had a telephone conversation last Friday, as well as with German Chancellor Olaf Solz, who is among the European leaders who they will come to Paris tomorrow, as well as the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Finally, from the British side, as it became known, Foreign Minister David Cameron will be present.
