THE French chairman Emmanuel Macron said he was “shocked” today, the day after the death of a teenager who was killed by police, while the French government appealed for “calm” after a night of tension in its suburbs Paris. But video that was later released on social networking sites – the French Agency and other media have verified as authentic – it shows one of the two officers pointing a gun at the driver, then shooting him at close range when he tries to speed away.

The victim, Mr Nael M., aged 17, succumbed to the wound he sustained in the chest.
