THE Emmy Awards will only reveal the winners of the 76th edition on Sunday (15). However, the list of nominees, released in July, already indicates that some platforms may celebrate in advance.
This year, the Netflix was mentioned in news headlines as the leader in Emmy nominations, receiving a total of 107 nominations . Among the service’s most nominated shows are “The Crown,” with 18 nominations, “Ripley,” with 13, and “Baby Reindeer,” with 11.
Netflix’s high ranking, however, can be questioned in Brazil, where the Disney+ covers the conglomerate’s programming The Walt Disney Company including broadcasters ABC , FOX and FX in addition to streaming services Hulu and Disney+ itself.
Previously, adult programming from Hulu, ABC and FX, such as “Abbott Elementary,” “American Crime Story,” “The Simpsons” and “The Bear,” was broadcast in Brazil by Star+ a service that was discontinued on July 24, 2024.
What complicates Netflix’s position at the top is that second place in terms of Emmy nominations belongs to American broadcaster FX.
His series “Shogun: The Glorious Saga of Japan” and “The Bear,” which led the technical awards ceremony, are the most nominated this year with 25 and 21 nominations, respectively, and are shown in Brazil on Disney+. In addition, the third most nominated series of the year, “Only Murders in the Building,” with 21 nominations, is broadcast in the United States on Hulu, but is also part of the Disney+ portfolio in Brazil .
With this, in Brazil, the number of indications from the Mickey Mouse platform is 152, making it the most recommended streaming of the year .
In third place comes Max which shows its own productions, such as “Hacks”, and HBO series, with 91. The platform’s highlights in 2024 were “True Detective: Night Country”, which received 19 nominations, “Hacks” with 16 and “The Gilded Age” with 6.
THE Apple TV+ was also well received by Academy of Television Arts and Sciences responsible for the event. The mobile giant’s platform secured 72 nominations, with highlights for “The Morning Show,” with 16, “Palm Royale,” with 11, and “Chemistry Lessons,” with 10.
Closing the Top 5, the Prime Video secured 37 nominations, with highlights for “Fallout” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, both with 16 nominations each.
