Hosting an awards ceremony is a notoriously thankless job that seems increasingly complicated to do today, but any network could hardly have done better than an Emmy nominee on its own network's airwaves as a game show host. The identikit corresponds to Anthony Anderson, master of ceremonies at the Emmy Awards which will be broadcast on January 15, 2024, later than the usual September date due to strikes by writers and actors.
“After Anthony presented We Are Family, has become our natural candidate to lead a star-studded and highly anticipated evening like the Emmys,” said Allison Wallach, head of programming at Fox, which will broadcast this year's awards. In Italy, however, it will be broadcast on the night between 15 and 16 January live on Sky Atlantic and streaming on Now.
Anderson is a logical choice for many other reasons, including his Emmy nominations for Black-ish and his performance on the show itself in years past. “With the recent challenges of our industry finally behind us, we can get back to what we love: dressing up and honoring ourselves,” Anderson said in a statement, “and there is no better time to celebrate the creative community than the milestone of the 75th Emmy Awards. When Fox asked me to host this historic broadcast, I was over the moon because Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can't wait to be part of the biggest night on television.”
