As we wrote earlier, in June-July AvtoVAZ plans to start production of several modifications of Lada cars with a minimum content of foreign components. Now new details have become known.
They were shared by the thematic resource “Drom” with reference to two independent sources at the plant. According to these sources, in June Lada Granta without ABS / ESP, ERA-GLONASS and airbags will be available to Russians. The “classic” Lada Niva Legend, simplified according to the same scheme, will be released in July.
Initially, there were rumors that Lada with simplified vehicle safety requirements would start rolling off the assembly line in May. The sources explained the delay:
Young people in the design department are not used to working in a rush mode and everything turns out more slowly than we would like.”
It is also noted that the first copies of Lada Granta in a simplified configuration have already been assembled and only the adoption of a special version of the technical regulations is expected, which allows cars to be certified according to simplified standards.
As for prices, the sources said: “It should be cheaper, but who knows what the price situation will be in June.”
