End of the heat wave is near in SP

The heat wave that crosses São Paulo already has an end date. In the state, the heat takes a break and the weather changes this weekend, with the arrival of a cold front. In addition to the drop in temperatures across the state, the metropolitan region of São Paulo has a forecast of heavy rain, with a risk of storms.

In São Paulo, the difference between the maximum temperature from Friday (17) to Sunday (19) must exceed 10 degrees. In other regions of the country, the heat may last for a few days and end only in the middle of next week, according to Climatempo spokesperson, Maria Clara Sassaki.

The country is going through the eighth heat wave of 2023, the fourth between winter and spring. Maria Clara Sassaki explains that the phenomena that happened at the beginning of the year were not that significant. “We are feeling more of the wave from September and now.”

On Tuesday (14), the capital of São Paulo broke the year’s temperature record, with a maximum of 37.7°C, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). It is the second highest record in 80 years, when measurements began.

The historic record for the capital is 37.8 °C, a temperature recorded in October 2014. By just a tenth, São Paulo has not yet broken the historic mark, but this could happen on Thursday (16), when Climatempo predicts the possibility temperature reaches 38°C.

According to Inmet, the average maximum temperature for November in the capital of São Paulo is 26.9°C. From the 1st to the 14th of this month, the average was 30.7°C, almost four degrees above normal.
