Endless arrests in Turkey: Handcuffs on 158 former military students and current military

The arrest of 158 suspects, including 33 active-duty soldiers, was ordered by prosecutors in Turkey, in a business targeting individuals allegedly associated with a Muslim preacher Fethullah Gulen, which Ankara claims is behind the failure 2016 coup attempt, broadcast today, Tuesday (19/10) the Turkish state news agency Anadolu.

So far, 97 people have been arrested during the operation, Anadolu reported. The suspects include 110 students of military schools, who had been expelled after the coup attempt, as well as 48 current and former members of the military staff, according to the APE-MPE.

Following the failed coup attempt, about 80,000 people have been arrested and their trial is pending and about 150,000 civil servants, military and others have been fired or made available. More than 20,000 people were driven out by the Turkish armed forces.
