Enem demands that students know how to take rest breaks, says teacher

The first test of the National High School Exam (Enem) will be administered next Sunday (5), with 45 language questions and another 45 in humanities, in addition to writing.

Students will have 5:30 hours to deliver this first assessment and need to learn how to manage this time, advises the coordinator of Grupo Educacional Stage, Edmilson Motta.

“Nobody can stay focused for five hours, that doesn’t exist. The person needs to introduce moments of short breaks into their test strategy”, she stated in an interview with CNN Radio .

Edmilson Motta advises students to stop every hour to eat and even get up to go to the bathroom at some point, “even if just to rest”.
Another good strategy, in the view of the Stage coordinator, is to skip questions that seem quite complex, so as not to waste time.

Furthermore, it is essential, on this first day of Enem, to read the essay topic as soon as you open your notebook, “so you can start thinking and find your repertoire during the test”, he advises. “Don’t leave it until the end, otherwise you’ll lose your footing in the essay.”

And if you feel nervous in the middle of the exam, the advice is to stop for “five minutes to regain your balance. Drinking water, going to the bathroom, breathing a little is much better than going into that cycle of ‘oh, my God’.”

In this edition of Enem, students complained about the distance from the test locations. As many were unable to be relocated, more than ever, the tip is to leave home early to avoid finding the gates closed, “maybe even very early because the traffic is chaotic” in some cities.

The gates to the test sites open at 12pm (Brasília time) this Sunday (5) and will close at 1pm.

Students have until 7pm to submit their exams on this first day, while on the following Sunday (12th), the exams will close at 6:30pm.
