The first stage of National High School Exam (Enem) This Sunday (13th). In addition to writing, the test also covers 45 Language questions and 45 Human Science questions. The exam takes place once a year and enables access to the best universities; with this, it is normal to feel anxiety and insecurity in the days before the exam, explain experts heard by the CNN 🇧🇷
To prevent anxiety from getting in the way of the student and causing delays on the day of the exam – which yield the well-known “memes” on social networks – it is essential to organize a planning routine.
THE CNN clinical psychologist Paula Amato highlighted the importance of food and sleep quality on the day before the race.
“It is important that the student eats well to maintain focus and energy, because the Enem, like the entrance exams, is a long test. Food should not be greasy, it should be lighter, because generally the student will be more anxious, and this anxiety often makes the person feel sick physically”, highlights the psychologist.
About sleep, Paula Amato reiterates the importance of sleeping well to consolidate learning, increase immunity and also reduce the tension caused by the test.
“When we sleep, we consolidate memories, increase our immunity and decrease our anxiety. It is already scientifically proven that a bad night’s sleep increases our anxiety by 30%,” she said.
The psychologist suggests that the student does not try to change the sleep routine a few days before the test, as this can generate even more discomfort.
“I do not recommend changing the sleep schedule, if the student is used to sleeping at a certain time and trying to sleep very early because of the test, perhaps because he is already anxious this can lead to insomnia”, he says.
What to do not to delay
Pre-test preparation and organization is very important to reduce student anxiety and, consequently, mitigate the chance of delays, as explained by psychologist Débora Araújo.
“Firstly, organize all the material that you will use in advance, check which place will be the test, the means of transport you will use, entry time, what you can and cannot take”, he said.
Psychologist Paula Amato suggests doing the test route beforehand, to feel safer and have more idea about the travel time.
“On race day, leaving well in advance is important because unforeseen events can arise. In addition to leaving things ready, such as the material, the pen, the water, the documents, so that you have as little concern as possible on the day of the test”, he comments.
She also adds that the day before the exam, the ideal is for the student to rest and relax.
“Trying to study beforehand only generates more anguish and anxiety, at most looking at summaries, but never picking up new subjects to start learning the day before the test. It has to be conscious rest, watching a series, a movie, listening to music, doing meditation, doing physical exercise, things that can distract you from the test”, he advises.
The second test of the Enem will be on November 20, with 45 Mathematics questions and 45 Natural Science questions.
