Enrico Nigiotti: “Come back to life”

Seven special events in the theater, to retrace the most important moments of his career and to rediscover the contact with the public that has been missed so much. Enrico Nigiotti, the thirty-four-year-old singer-songwriter from Livorno who in 2020 walked the stage of the Sanremo Festival with the desire to be able to bring all his new music on tour, starts from that forced stop with Moonlit nights, a ballad that takes the listener under a starry sky, addressing directly to the great star that for a long time was its only light. Ready, from 12 January, with a first date already sold out in his Livorno, to sing it live for the first time accompanied by Fabiano Pagnozzi (piano, hammond, choirs and musical direction), Mattia Tedesco (guitars), Antonio Galli (bass) and Marco Fuliano (drums and choirs).

How does it feel to be back on tour?
“It’s strange. It’s something I’ve been waiting for for two years, I imagined it in all ways but like all things you imagine, then they are never how you live them. It’s an adventure, and it’s a feeling I like. I take nothing for granted. Livorno is sold out, but I don’t know if everyone will really come. It could be both a positive and a negative discovery, but it makes me feel alive. And I haven’t felt alive in a long time. Can’t wait to play. I’m sick of saying it’s a difficult time. It’s our time. We only own the time we have and if we take it away… we take away the only thing we have ».

What will we see?
“I’ve had two years to think it through. It will be an even more played show than before. I dressed the songs differently, there will be acoustic moments. I will be accompanied by great musicians, we have taken great care. I thought of a schedule that makes the audience think that time has flown, like when you see a good movie at the cinema and you don’t realize that two hours have passed ».

The show will retrace the most important moments of his career. What will be the moment that will involve you the most emotionally?
«It is not obvious to say, but I believe that on an emotional level Grandpa Hollywood be the song that always touches me. I noticed it in lockdown, I had time to watch the videos and listen to the songs again, I searched the comments on the web, which I never do. I saw that under that song people greet their loved ones. It’s like an epitaph and it made me realize that then maybe there are songs that really go beyond the music, the knowing the chorus. They bring you in touch. It is as if you are speaking for them. Sure too Love is it’s important. Without that song I wouldn’t have been there. Or also The girl who collected the wind, written for Alda merini, I feel it a lot. And the audience hears it too. I have many songs, each one is a child ».

Since that 2020 Festival and his kiss Me Now what happened?
“My life has changed completely. I had played a lot and I wanted to do even more, doing Sanremo for me meant being able to tour even more songs. Then in September I would go on a long journey to write a new record. Instead in February, after two weeks of promo, they stopped me and the world closed. So I tried to get away from everything, I went to Capraia. Everything was closed, at least there I could walk, see the sea. We were 80 people on the whole island, there is only one road, the rest is just woods. I left with my girlfriend and my two dogs and we became islanders. There she was born Moonlit nights, I thought, I wrote, but I also realized that I need to experience some things. I miss the tours, I miss the contact with people. It is nice to isolate oneself, but it is not enough ».
