Experts of the analytical company IDC summed up the results of the second quarter of 2021 not only in the market of external data storage systems, but also in the market of Ethernet switches and enterprise-level routers. According to their calculations, sales of switches reached $ 7.4 billion. This figure is 10.8% more than in the second quarter of 2020. Sales of enterprise-grade routers fell 0.5% year-on-year to $ 3.9 billion.
Analysts recall that Ethernet switch sales rose 7.6% in the first quarter. If we take the data for the entire half of the year, the growth compared to the first half of 2020 is equal to 9.3%.
Cisco remains the largest supplier of Ethernet switches. Having increased sales by 4.5%, it occupies 44.1% of the market. Cisco’s share of the router market is estimated at 34.2%.
Ethernet is in second place among switch manufacturers. Having increased sales by 3.5%, it occupies 11.1% of the market. Huawei has a 33.4% share of the router market.
