In an exclusive interview with CNN Brazil, Environment Minister Joaquim Leite, said that the promised aid of US$ 100 billion to underdeveloped countries will not be enough for the objective.
“The challenge is huge and will not be solved with $100 billion. So, talking to several countries, especially the least developed ones, we understood that we have to go beyond this amount to look for US$ 1 trillion a year to generate green jobs worldwide”, stated Leite.
Joaquim Leite also commented on the new data released by INPE (National Institute for Space Research) that point to a record deforestation in the Amazon in October.
“This is not good news. We have a challenge, as all countries have environmental challenges. Here is a conference not to point out the challenges of others. We have to help each other to overcome this challenge. This is a collaborative COP and Brazil has done collaborative work”, said Leite.
