Tim Sweeney, co-founder and CEO of gaming company Epic Games, said that he would not follow the example of Steam and Mojang and would not ban NFT and blockchain-enabled games on his site.
Earlier, Minecraft developers announced that they did not plan to add support for collectible tokens and blockchain to their game. And the largest online store Steam banned such games last fall.
One of the users of the social network Twitter invited Epic Games to comment on the attitude towards collectible tokens (NFTs), while asking them to “remove such games from the store.”
“Developers should be free to decide how to build their games. And you are free to decide whether to play them. I believe that the creators of operating systems and shops should not interfere and impose their views. We definitely won’t do that,” wrote Tim Sweeney.
Note that Epic Games is one of the most influential companies in the gaming industry. She created the Unreal Engine game engine and is behind the popular Fortnite sandbox.
Earlier it was reported that Animoca Brands has invested $1.5 billion in 340 crypto and blockchain games.
